WHAT IS THE SOY OIL YIELD FROM 1 TON OF SOYBEANS
The oil output depends on soybean oil content and technology of oil processing.
Due to the specific compositional characteristics soy has been valued and widely used. Soybeans have a high content of oil and protein, in Ukraine the soybeans oil content is 15...27%.
Soybeans with different protein and oil levels have different product values when processed.
Mostly soy is processed into oil and meal.
Nowadays in oil making industry these two different technologies for soy oil processing are popular:
Solvent Extraction (with the residual oil content in meal 0,5...2%)
Mechanical Extraction (with the residual oil content in meal
The mechanical extraction way means making use of screw expellers to press oil out from vegetable seed while the solvent extraction method is a chemical way to produce the oil, where usually hexane is used to separate oil out.
How much oil can you make from 1 ton of soy using solvent extraction method?
If the soybeans oiliness 15...27% and the residual oil content in the meal is 0,5...2%
The oil yield from 1 ton of soybean will be 13-26.5% (nearly 130-265 kg of oil)
Talking about the solvent extraction method we cannot but mention that it is an efficient way of oil extraction, but it requires a huge investment costs, high technical knowhow, and a well-developed infrastructure for collection, storage and distribution of the feedstock and final products.
There is also the emission of chemical vapors into the atmosphere which is obviously one of the disadvantages.
While the mechanical extraction is a chemical-free way of making oil for there will be no solvent (chemical) residues in oil.
The oil obtained from the expeller or mechanical oil press is natural, pure oil higher in flavors with NO chemical residuals compared to solvent extraction method.
The benefits are lower investment costs, non-chemical edible oil and meal, the operation isn't complicated.
The disadvantages are high power requirements, wear of the equipment that requires maintenance, and lower yield due to residual oil in the meal.
The non-chemical soybean meal (oil cake) obtained on SOY PROCESSING LINE is recognized as an excellent ingredient for all livestock, poultry.
Based on our customers reports we can firmly confirm had significantly higher amino acid digestibility and greater digestible and metabolizable energy for pigs, when compared with high protein or low protein solvent extracted soybean meals.
What are the results of mechanical oil extraction? What will be the oil output after processing 1 ton of soy?
If the soybeans oiliness 15...27% and the residual oil content in the meal is 6...8% The oil yield from 1 ton of soybean will be 7-21% (nearly 70-210 kg of oil)
Mechanical oil pressing is widely used at the manufacturing plants that process from 12 to 150 ton per hour, solvent oil extraction used when there is the efficient production starting from 150 ton per hour.
