EXPELLER MACHINE
Expeller is a screw type oil press for mechanical method for extracting oil from oil-yielding crops (for final oil pressing).
It decreases the oil content in the meal (oil cake) from 15-25% to 7-9%
The conditions for operation:
- temperature 100-120°С
- moisture 7-10%

In technological processing lines for oil crops with oil content higher than 25%, the first stands the oil press for preliminary mechanical oil extraction, called the forepress and then stands the expeller which is used for the final mechanical oil extraction.
Expeller for soy processing:
Soybeans contain up to 25% of oil.
Therefore, the soy processing line is built according to the scheme:
dehuller mill - extruder - expeller - cooler
The dehuller mill crushes soybeans, removes the shell and increases the mass fraction of protein in the final product.
Extruder reduces the content of anti-nutrients to acceptable level, opens the fat cells improving the oil yield and heats the raw materials prior the oil pressing.
Crushed and preheated soy mixture (up to 110-115 °C) is fed into the press cage. The screw shaft rotates (at a speed of 15- 25 turns per minute) and moves the raw material along the press cage.
In the course of mixture motion there are four pressing zones created, in which the space between the cage bars and the screw shaft gradually decreases.
The volume is reduced by:
- shortening the pitch of the screws
- decreasing the depth of the screw flight space
Each of the following pressing zones has the cage bars with smaller gaps. Full-fat soy moves along the press cage of expeller being pressed and squeezed.
Soybean oil is squeezed through the gaps between the cage bars, the solid particles which are the soy meal (oil cake) move forward to the next pressing zone.
Soy meal (oil cake) is discharged from the die with oil content of 7-8% and a temperature of 100-115 °С.
Cooler reduces the temperature of the meal, protects the protein from denaturation.
In some cases, the obtained meal (oil cake) is repeatedly pressed in the expeller in order to reduce the oil content to 5-6% and the additional oil yield to 2-3%.
In this case it is necessary to:
- re-crush the meal
- moisten the crushed meal
- reduce the speed of the expeller shaft
- reduce the clearances between the cage bars
We produce expellers with capacity of 500 kg/h and 1000 kg/h.
